While Pernambuco has been the topwood choice of bow makers for the last couple hundred years, the scarcity of the wood and new regulations governing the sale and harvesting of Pernambuco has led to scarcity of new pernambuco bows and big price jumps. L’Archet Brasil has introduced a new lineupusing a similar wood known as ipe or Brazilian walnut. Ipe is a broad term used for several similar species of trees.
