Summary:
This old Kay guitar is super vibey with its beefy baseball
bat of a neck, original Bakelite knobs and recent pro refret! Our
in-house luthier has just restrung this guitar with 10s and set the
action low and comfortable. This guitar plays and sounds fantastic.
Body:
Fully-hollow archtop guitar with 3 ply binding on the spruce top and
maple back and sides.
Neck:
The neck is huge, some might call it a baseball bat neck and
we would agree. It is very comfortable and has some finish worn off
the back and sides making it feel very smooth. The rosewood
fingerboard is bound and has been re-fretted with larger frets, it
also has very unique split inlays. It has a 1 5/8 nut width and
25.9 scale length.
Pickups/Hardware:
It has one pickup, volume, tone, original Bakelite knobs,
rosewood floating bridge, trapeze tailpiece and replacement chrome
closed back tuners.
Cosmetics:
This guitar is in great vintage shape save for the heel-cap being
missing and a slight gap in the heel. There’s plenty of finish
checking all over the body and neck, lots of patches of finish
missing all around the guitar, small nicks and dings can be found and
there is a large patch of finish played off the top where the
pickguard once sat. There are holes in the back of the headstock
where the old tuners sat, holes where the pickguard was once mounted
and there are numbers carved into the headstock and tailpiece.
Playability:
Our in-house guitar tech has just inspected, setup and restrung
this guitar with a new set of 10s. The neck is straight and the
action has been setup low and comfortable. The frets are in great
shape with no major grooves or divots from use and it plays
beautifully up and down the fingerboard with no dead spots or choking
out.
Weight:
5 lbs, 4 oz.
Case:
This guitar has no case but we will ship it professionally
packed and fully insured!
