Made in China, 2008, Epiphones Custom Shop Limited Edition Ripper is their re-issue of Gibsons famed Ripper series basses from the late 1970s. The Ripper has a hard maple body with an ebony finish (which was only offered in 2008). The hard maple bolt-on neck sports a maple fingerboard with a brass nut (1.65 inch width) and abalone dot inlays.

The Precision – Jazz pickups on this one have been replaced with pickups from a modern USA thunderbird (legend has it the Thunderbird was owned by JET). It has also been upgraded with a replacement pick guard to mount the pickups.
