Labeled Carlo Giuseppe Oddone, and branded at the end-button “C. Oddone Torino”. This fine violin features a two-piece back with moderate flame, a narrow and even-grained spruce top, and a darkened chamfer around the elongated scroll typical of French instruments. While it is labelled and stamped as an Oddone violin, this violin is a French violin. However, it is still a very nice violin with a rich sound.
The lower register on this instrument is rich and lush, transitioning into a beautiful and singing upper register with power and clarity. Both tonally and visually, this violin is what you would expect from a nearly 100-year-old French instrument, with yellow-orange varnish and a distinctive scroll shape. Soundwise it would do well in the hands of an advanced or professional-level violinist.
